For the past 4 years or so I have been writing and reading LOTS of copy. I’ve tried many things… music stands, taping the paper to the camera, cheap prompters, huge expensive prompters, someone holding the paper by hand… if you need to read copy on the cheap buy a $30 foam roller on amazon and tape your paper to it. Then, position the copy directly above the camera lens.. Try to get as close to the lens as possible for the best eye line. Then, have someone turn the roller to the beat of your speech. That’s it! Best option I’ve found by far aside from the huge, expensive impractical kind. Remember to reuse the paper when you are done!
